Ions are molecular sized particles that usually hold either a negative or positive charge. Water ‘sticks’ together through ionic bonds. If a bunch of negative ions are sent out they will help to break down water molecules making it evaporate easier. Smaller water droplets means more surface area and so heat can act faster on it. If you have a hair dryer that also emits negative ions it will break down the water molecule and make your hair dry faster. It is also believed that negative ions will help close the cuticles on hair, locking in moisture and making it more smooth and silky feeling.
Hair dryers with tourmaline do just that. They emit negative ions which help to eliminate frizz and static, allow the hair to dry faster while locking in natural moisture. Tourmaline is a natural mineral that can emit negative ions as well as infrared heat. Infrared heat is great for drying hair as it penetrates more than radiant heat so it does not dry the surface of the hair too much. Think of a microwave oven vs. a convention oven. Cooking times are substantially reduced as are drying times. Infrared heat combined with negative ions can reduce drying times almost by half. It is healthy and less damaging for hair and produces shinier and smoother hair too.
So to get all the benefits of today’s technology look for a hairdryer that uses ceramics embedded with tourmaline so you get lots of infrared heat combined with lots of ions. This will amazingly dry your hair faster, make it look better and is healthier. How often does it work out that the faster better looking thing is also the healthier one! You may have to pay a little more but it is worth it.
